Baccarat Rules & Strategies
Baccarat
rules...the high rollers favorite casino game
If
you're looking for a game that returns pretty well,
and doesn't require too much concentration, then
baccarat is your game. All you really need to do is
decide how much you want to bet, make your bet
selection from the 3 available, and let the dealer do
the rest. Baccarat is also a traditional favorite of
the high rollers, so bet limits for this game are
generally pretty high.
The
rules of the game are simple...
-
Number cards less than 10 are worth face value, the
Ace is worth 1 and 10's and picture cards are worth
0.
-
The
game starts with the player placing a bet in the
'player', 'banker', or 'tie' boxes...now the dealer
does the rest. In baccarat, 'banker' and 'player'
refer to bet options rather than game participants.
-
Once bets are own, 2 cards are dealt to the 'banker'
and 2 cards are dealt to the 'player'. The value of
the 2 card hand is equal to the right digit of the 2
card sum. 5 and 7 = 2, Ace and 10 =1, 3 and 4 =7
and so on.
-
A
third card may be dealt to the player and/or banker
according to the following rules:
- (overriding rule) where either player or banker
has a score of 8 or 9, no further cards are dealt.
- where the player's total is 5 or less, the player
hits, otherwise the player stands.
- if the player stands, the banker must hit on 5 or
less. If the player hits, then the banker will hit
or stands according to the following chart:

Once dealing ends, the highest hand wins. Winning
bets on the banker pay 19 to 20 (even money less 5%
house commission), winning bets on the player pay
even money. Winning bets on a tie usually pay 8 to
1.
Baccarat returns around 99% to the player for player
and banker bets, and around 85% on tie bets...so don't
bet on the tie!
Enjoy.
